“Compatibility between blockchain technologies is a key factor for the long term success of the blockchain ecosystem. I am very excited to be able to support the Pantos project as an advisor and support the project with all NEM related topics,” says Rieger.

The purpose of the NEM Foundation is to introduce, educate, and promote the use of the NEM blockchain technology platform on an international scale to industries and institutions. Paul Rieger, the newest renowned advisor to join Pantos, is an internationally-known promoter and educator on blockchain technology. He is an advocate of the NEM blockchain and joined NEM Europe in November 2017. Rieger is combining his software engineering background with his entrepreneurial experience to not only educate others, but to design and develop blockchain-based solutions and prototypes for the private and public sector.

The Pantos project is already being supported and advised by some of the most respected projects and people in the global blockchain space. Among them are Andreas Petersson, co-founder of Bitcoin Austria and Minebox and the former architect of the Mycelium Android Wallet; Michael Borkowski and Stefan Schulte from Vienna University of Technology; Ralph Pichler, Ethereum veteran, smart contracts expert and co-founder of Research Institute for Future Cryptoeconomics (RIAT); JL777 of Komodo, Max Kordek of Lisk, and Sasha Ivanov of Waves. Additionally the Pantos project is receiving official support from foundations such as Bitcoin Austria, Fintech Austria, Komodo, Lisk, and Waves.

“Paul Rieger is a blockchain expert with a scientific background as a board member of RIAT. We are very proud that he is strengthening our team as a representative of NEM,” says Eric Demuth, CEO and co-founder of Bitpanda.

Pantos’ goal is to enable seamless cross-chain token transfers between multiple blockchains. Bitpanda has conceived and initiated the open source research project Pantos, together with scientists of the Technical University Vienna, the Academy of Sciences, and RIAT. Pantos will be financed by a Technology ICO, which will be capped at 1,500 BTC to ensure the development of open source technology, which will prospectively act as a key technology for a token-based environment — the Token Atomic Swap Technology (TAST).

Who’s Bitpanda?

Bitpanda’s founding members are digital currency enthusiasts since the emergence of Bitcoin. Back in 2013 it was difficult to buy digital currencies in Europe, which led them to their visionary idea of Bitpanda. Since then, Bitpanda.com has grown to become Europe’s leading retail broker for digital currencies, currently offering Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, Dash, Bitcoin Cash and Ripple, and fully integrated EUR trading, including in-house-developed wallet solutions for all assets.
