NEM Nigeria through NEM Kano, organized NEM BLOCKCHAIN for DEV MEETUP for students of Bayero University, Kano Nigeria.
The event was staged at the popular CIT lecture Theater of Computer Science Depatment, Bayero University, Kano.
The Officials of the Nigeria Association of Computer Science Students (NACOSS) Bayero University Kano (BUK) Chapter, invited NEM Nigeria to present NEM BLOCKCHAIN for DEV Seminar during NACOSS week 2018.
The meetup was presented based on:
1. Multi-Signature Account
2. Catapult: Aggregated Transactions, Multi-Level Multisignature Accounts and Cross Chain Transactions.
3. Apostille and Notarization
4. NameSpace and
5. Mosaic
We explained how NACOSS can utilize NEM Apostille to notarize and authenticate the school’s certificate before issuing them to graduating students in order to prevent forgery of BUK certificate and even use that to raise money for the association by charging fee for the notarization of the certificate.
Another area that was dwelt on was NameSpace and Mosaic under which I explained ICO and how the university or the association can use NameSpace and Mosaic to create her own coin which can be used to pay fees.
The aspects of APIs on the NEM Blockchain that enables any system to be easily integrated to the NEM Blockchain was equally explained to the students and lecturer in attendance.
Malam Auwal Tata, spoke on behalf of the Lecturers and the department. He was impressed with the seminar and said “I never knew it was going to be this great otherwise, I would have brought in people with the facilities and stream this event live” online. He also stated “I have mandated one of my students to have his project on Blockchain Technology” and expressed the hope that more of this meetup would be organized in the school and looked forward to collaboration between the university and NEM.
