Today, artist Poesy Liang and technology company LuxTag joined forces in a partnership to implement a blockchain solution that authenticates and records provenance of Liang’s artwork. The partnership will roll out two projects, provenance tracking and a specialized art e-shop, accepting only crypto-currencies BTC and XEM.

Provenance Tracking is a blockchain powered tagging solution developed by LuxTag for Poesy Liang. It utilizes the NEM Blockchain Technology, offering smart contracts and multi-signature features. The project has the purpose of recording the provenance history of every piece of art.

The second project will be an online shop, debuting with the inaugural series of “Fly Me To The Moon Harry Putter”. These print editions are available for purchase, exclusively accepting the cryptocurrencies Bitcoin and XEM. The 120 authorized print editions sold in this online shop will be authenticated by unique identifiers. This blockchain project is the solution to the counterfeit of artwork.

LuxTag protects authenticity, ownership, and the origin of products since 2016. In 2017, LuxTag decided to sub-brand itself to better service different sectors, one of which is the art industry. The technology company is currently servicing other industries such as fashion, jewelry, education, and documents.

Interdisciplinary artist & humanitarian Poesy Liang, is an innovator in the art world. She first became interested in blockchain in 2014 and started accepting Bitcoin as a payment in 2015. Liang stated, “I’m lucky I didn’t have to sift through the haystack to look for the right collaborators. Provenance is a vital component for any serious body of work. A big part of my practice is concerned about recording history and LuxTag is able to deliver.”

Poesy will be presenting the Provenance Tracking system on June 9th at the (Grand Asian Art Bazaar) GAAB Collectors Summit 2018 in Poland. This is the second edition of the annual international event devoted to collectors of Asian contemporary art by the (WIMCAA) Warsaw Institute for Modern & Contemporary Asian Art Foundation. The summit will be held at the Europejski Hotel. The theme of this year’s summit is “smART city: New Technologies & Art Ecosystem”.
