NEM Malaysia has been actively engaging the Malaysian education sector in recent months, from signing partnerships with private universities as well as enabling solutions for Malaysian public universities. The engagements with educational institutions haven’t stopped with these two activities as the NEM Malaysia has added one more educational institution to its list of partners, Malaysia’s UCSI University.

The new Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with UCSI University Malaysia will once again have NEM Malaysia power a university’s blockchain education. Previously, NEM Malaysia had already signed a similar MoU with Taylor’s University Malaysia.

In the new MoU, one of the key areas that NEM will assist UCSI University will be in the creation of a Blockchain syllabus for the educational institution. This will be done by providing the industry expertise and feedback that NEM has to further enhance and facilitate the syllabus creation by the university.

“We are happy to partner and support UCSI University to explore the use of blockchain for their students in their curriculum so that more students and faculty are trained. We believe that this knowledge will help develop more blockchain developers who are able to effectively contribute to the adoption of NEM blockchain technology across multiple fields. We look forward to engaging with USCI to develop on-campus blockchain labs and other related events in the future at their campuses”

-Stephen Chia, NEM Southeast Asia Regional Head and NEM Foundation Council Member

The partnership also sees NEM powering the university’s Blockchain lab which will also double up as a NEM Satellite. This will see one of the existing computer labs be branded as Blockchain Lab powered by NEM and will be where all related blockchain projects will be conducted in the university. Students involved in the Blockchain Lab will also be given training by the NEM team so the will be well versed in Blockchain and NEM tech.

Finally, as part of the MoU, the NEM Blockchain Centre will be opened up to UCSI University Diploma students working on their final year projects that are related to blockchain. This will allow the students to interact and engage with NEM Malaysia team members allowing them further exposure and understanding of the NEM blockchain and general blockchain knowledge for their research purposes.
